Eastman Stings offers a range of violins in a category between $800 and 2,500 which are unusual value. The instruments have an exceptional warmth and richness, and a resonance that makes them easy to play with projection. At the higher levels, the wood selection becomes increasingly attractive.

Callegari violins are available to us through Arcos Brazil, the firm that makes some of our best contemporary pernambuco bows, and they have a powerful open tone, more on the brilliant side than the instruments by Eastman. Even though recently created, the varnish on these violins is applied in a manner that makes them appear antique

The Dunov violins originate in Romania, where they are built using well aged tonewood from the Carpathians, and we offer several levels. The sound is vibrant and powerful, without harshness. Other European instruments in this category include violins by Wilhelm Klier and Albert Nebel, German instruments varnished in the US, and violins by the German luthiers Clement & Wiese.

Jay Haide Violins
